Toronto Basement Flooding Rebates

       Get Up to $6,650 in Flood-Protection Subsidies​

 

Eligible Toronto homeowners may receive up to 80% of eligible invoiced costs for approved basement-flooding protection work completed on or after November 12, 2025.

Current Maximum Subsidies

​

• Home plumbing assessment: up to $500

• Backwater valve: up to $1,600 each, maximum two

• Sump pump and alarm: up to $2,250

• Sump-pump battery backup: up to $300

• Weeping-tile severance and capping: up to $400

• Maximum available per property: up to $6,650

Who May Qualify?

​

The property must be located in Toronto and be a:

• Single-family home

• Duplex

• Triplex

• Fourplex

Additional eligibility requirements apply. Work must be completed by a properly licensed Toronto contractor, and homeowners must provide the required invoices, permits and supporting documentation.

Home Plumbing Assessment

​

A licensed plumber can inspect your home’s plumbing and identify conditions that may contribute to basement flooding.

Aqua Source Plumbing provides eligible home plumbing assessments for $610 plus HST. Qualifying homeowners may receive up to $500 through the City program.

Backwater Valve Installation

​

A backwater valve helps prevent sewage from flowing back into your home during heavy rainfall or sewer overloading.

Qualifying homeowners may receive up to $1,600 per valve, for a maximum of two valves. A building permit and inspection are required.

Sump Pump and Battery Backup

​

A sump pump collects groundwater from the foundation drainage system and pumps it safely away from the home.

Eligible work may qualify for:

• Up to $2,250 for a sump pump and alarm

• Up to $300 for a battery-backup system

Weeping-Tile Severance and Capping

​

Disconnecting foundation drains from the City sewer system can reduce the risk of sewer backups.

Eligible homeowners may receive up to $400 for this work.

Moen Flo Smart Water Shut-Off

​

The Moen Flo system monitors water usage, detects unusual activity and can automatically shut off the water when a serious leak is detected.

Some insurance companies may offer discounts or incentives. Eligibility and savings depend entirely on the individual insurance provider.
